Bridges of Understanding supports the Boston Children's Chorus's July 2009 trip to Jordan.
The Boston Children's Chorus has recently returned from a groundbreaking summer trip to Jordan on a two-week cultural exchange tour for the purpose of bringing together youth from the United States and Jordan who have a true love for making music, giving them the chance to demonstrate their potential and form international friendships.
The tour to Jordan gave the young singers the unprecedented opportunity to foster cross-cultural understanding in a key Middle East country that stands for peace in one of our world's most conflict-ridden regions, as well as the opportunity to learn about a new culture and its history by living in Jordanian homes, forming friendships across global boundaries, and participating in a specially-designed pre-tour educational program. The BCC permormed at several performances at local venues in Amman and in many rural towns in the Kingdom, and participated in cultural and musical workshops in the local area. The Chorus also hosted a brief performance and report on the tour for parents, the Board, friends, and supporters, as well as members of the Jordanian and Arab community in Boston.
