On March 31, Bridges of Understanding and the National Council on US-Arab Relations co-hosted "A Conversation with HRH Prince Zeid Al Hussein, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the United States."  Marking the 60 years of US-Jordanian friendship, the converstaion touched on such topics as business, trade, women's rights, education, and diplomacy.
 
Co-Founder Kathy Hubbard introduced Bridges of Understanding's work to the 200-member audience at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, followed by the Ambassador's prepared remarks.  Both she and Dr. John Duke Anthony of NCUSAR moderated the Q+A session between the attendees and the Ambassador.  A video of the event is available here.  For an article on the Ambassador's remarks, please click here.
 
 Prince Zeid was appointed as Ambassador in 2007, following six years as Jordan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.  An expert in the field of international justice, he played a central role in the establishment of the International Criminal Court. Prince Zeid also has an extensive knowledge of peacekeeping, having  worked intimately with peacekeeping issues for over the last decade.  He holds a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. from Cambridge (Christ's College).
 
The National Council on US-Arab Relations is an American non-profit, non-governmental, educational organization dedicated to improving American knowledge and understanding of the Arab world.  It seeks to enhance American awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the Arab countries, the Mideast, and the Islamic world. Its means for doing so encompass but are not limited to programs for leadership development, people-to-people exchanges, lectures, publications, an annual Arab-U.S. policymakers conference, and the participation of American students and faculty in Arab world study experiences.  This event will be part of their Congressional & Public Affairs Briefing series.
